Who Owns America?

Some people say, “Go back to where you came from.”

But where do you go when you’ve lived here longer than the country you were born in?
Where do you go when this is where you built a family you call your own?
Where do you go when the country you were born in no longer feels like yours either?

Who gets to claim America?

The ones who came first? The ones who came last?
The ones who took the land? The ones who built it?
The ones who declare themselves its rightful owners—
Or the ones who were never fully welcomed, but stayed anyway?

Because if America belongs to anyone—

Maybe it belongs to the people who never stop fighting to make it better.
