Founding Manifesto
We came to America from every corner of the world.
We left behind languages that shaped our childhoods, streets that carried our footsteps, and loved ones we may never see again.
We came here not because America was perfect — but because America was possible.
Some of us came to escape war or oppression.
Some of us came for education, love, or opportunity.
Some of us came because we were drawn to the spirit of freedom this country promised.
Whatever brought us here, we all made the same choice: to start over in a place where democracy gave us a chance to build something new.
For generations, immigrants like us built this country — with our hands, our backs, our prayers, and our dreams.
We didn’t ask for much — only the chance to work hard and live free.
That is the unspoken covenant of immigration: we bring our labor, our love, and our voices — and in return, America keeps its promise of democracy.
But now, that promise is at risk.
We see the cracks — in our elections, in our courts, in the way truth itself is under attack.
We know that if democracy breaks, it’s immigrants, minorities, and the most vulnerable who will pay the highest price.
That’s why we cannot stand by.
This is our country now — and we will defend it.
Immigrants for Democracy is a home for every new American who understands what’s at stake.
No matter where you came from, no matter your race or religion — if you believe in democracy, you are one of us.
We came here to build a life.
Now, we fight to protect it—Together.
