Maybe Some People Just Want to Hate?

Some people were always going to hate.

Not because they were wronged. Not because they lost something.
But because hate gives them purpose.

It’s easier to blame an immigrant than to ask why wages are stagnant.
Easier to blame diversity than to question who really holds the power.
Easier to create an enemy than to admit the real problem has nothing to do with race, or culture, or who got here first.

Hate is simple. Hate is useful.
Hate is a fire that doesn’t go out on its own.

But hate isn’t the only thing that spreads.

Love does, too.
So does understanding. So does human connection.

For every person who clings to their anger, there’s another who chooses to listen.
For every person who builds a wall, there’s another who opens a door.

Some people just want to hate.

But not everyone does.

And maybe that’s what will save us.
